Cumberland to Host Town Hall Meeting on School Safety

*Update* The March 13th meeting has been canceled. The rescheduled date is March 27th.

The Cumberland School Department will host a public forum on Tuesday, March 27th at 6:30 p.m. at McCourt Middle School to share updates on school safety protocols, hear concerns, and answer questions from the community.

“We know that in light of recent events, parents and others want to know about our schools and what we have done and are doing to keep our students safe,” Superintendent Robert Mitchell said. “In working with the Mayor, other town officials, and the police department, we thought this would be the best way for us to keep the community informed of our policies, procedures, and safety precautions.”

Mayor Bill Murray and Superintendent Bob Mitchell, along with other local officials, will lead a discussion on school safety in the schools. The meeting will focus on three main areas: a presentation on current safety protocols, plans to improve school safety, and an open forum for community members to share concerns and offer suggestions.

Parents, students, staff and community members are encouraged to attend.
