Dear Students, Staff and Families,
As we begin to welcome students back with the hybrid model, beginning with the transition grades (K, 6, and 9), I want to share a few important reminders:
-
All students, staff, and visitors are required to wear a mask. The following information is provided by the Rhode Island Department of Education: Masks are required in the K-12 setting, even when students are in stable groups and socially distanced (greater than 6 feet apart). The Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH) understands and supports the exceptions to wearing masks for health considerations, as outlined in the CDC guidance.
-
The CDC does not recommend the use of gaiters or face shields. Evaluation of these face covers is on-going but effectiveness is unknown at this time. Therefore, the use of gaiters will not be allowed. Here is a link to the CDC website that provides additional information on how to select, wear, and clean your mask. CDC – How to Select, Wear and Clean Your Mask

All students and staff must complete a daily attestation form. The attestation form has a list of symptoms associated with Covid-19. Students and staff are required to answer yes if they have a symptom or symptoms or no if they are not experiencing symptoms. It only takes a minute or two to complete. This is important information that must be collected by the School Department and the RIDOH. We are asking students and staff to complete the form every day. To fulfill this responsibility, parents and students should use Aspen to complete this process and staff will use the Google form that has been created. Daily Attestation Form in Aspen
Since we are experiencing new challenges as a result of the pandemic, we are asking for your patience and understanding as we implement these necessary health and safety procedures to reduce the risk of infection.
Sincerely,
Robert A. Mitchell
Superintendent of Schools
