We believe that open communication between families and school is necessary for our students to achieve.

North Cumberland Middle School is a suburban middle school serving students in grades 6-8.

Our mission is to empower and inspire all students to apply knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to become creative problem solvers, critical thinkers, and lifelong learners. With rigorous academic standards as the foundation of instruction, teachers and students work collaboratively to ensure that our students are prepared to successfully navigate the world around them. Standards based grading is used to assess student proficiency in order to provide targeted feedback for improvement. Technology is incorporated into learning in a way that is meaningful and relevant to support personalization and learning beyond the classroom. Our school community also includes a districtwide specialized program, further ensuring that students of all levels are able to access the curriculum and work toward their individual goals.

At NCMS, we provide a safe, supportive, and nurturing learning community that allows students to feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, and engaging in discussion in order to be active participants in their learning. Every student at NCMS is encouraged to have a voice and to use their voice in a positive and productive manner. We are committed to supporting our students academically, emotionally, and socially to foster development of the whole child.  Our focus on respect and kindness allows students to build relationships with adults and peers to assist in their development as learners and citizens.

Students, staff, and families are committed to working together to continuously improve teaching and learning at NCMS. We strive to offer new opportunities and improve on existing practices that will result in all students growing. Our investment in students is driven by our belief that EVERY student has the capacity to grow and succeed.
