School

Community School is one of 342 schools nationwide to have earned the distinction of Blue Ribbon School from the US Department of Education in 2017.

At Community, we provide an environment which constitutes consistency in learning and embraces the strengths of each individual student, guiding their growth to excellence throughout their elementary school years.

Personalized, blended learning is a practice used that motivates our students and allows them choice and flexibility in pace with the use of technology. Thinking Maps and SRSD are tools implemented that enable students to tackle higher order thinking. Students engage in tasks independently and set goals for their own learning.

Commitment to PBIS principles has enabled us to sustain a learning culture that supports the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of each student. High expectations for learning and growth are shared by staff and students alike.

Utilizing a process for the ongoing collection and analysis of data, practitioners and students monitor and adjust personal learning goals through regular goal setting conferences. Student achievement is a collaborative effort where all students own their own learning.

Mission Statement

The mission of Community School is to provide an environment that values and promotes a collaborative, supportive and positive culture for learning. Through the use of shared decision making among administrators, teachers, students, and families, the needs of all students are fulfilled. Academic, social emotional and physical needs of all school constituents are addressed through the consistent analysis of multiple data sources. Therefore, Community School fosters an atmosphere in which individuals become critical thinkers, problem solvers, and lifelong learners.
