 The Cumberland School Committee is seeking applications for a Superintendent to lead the Districts’ nine (9) schools serving over 4,500 students.  The ideal candidate must be a strong leader who is motivated to continue Cumberland’s successes as well as lead the district with clear vision to move the district forward.

 The successful candidate shall have:

  • A proven record of  instructional leadership that will guide and enhance teaching and learning in the District;
  • Experience in school finance which will strategically help build, recommend and implement a fiscal plan the benefits all learners;
  • Experience in school capital improvement planning which will guide short and long term facility needs with regard to maintenance, operations, and construction to provide the facilities necessary to benefit all learners;
  • The ability to inspire all faculty, staff and leaders of the Cumberland School Department to excellence;
  • A track record of demonstrated high moral, ethical and professional behavior; and
  • A genuine desire to improve education in the Cumberland School Department.

Required Qualifications:

  • Masters Degree or Doctorate in Education Administration
  • Current and valid RI State Certificate as a Superintendent of Schools or eligible for Certificate at time of application
  • Three to five years of Central Office experience in a leadership role of Superintendent or Assistant Superintendent preferred.
