Dear Students, Staff, and Families:
We can’t let October end without recognizing the incredible hard work and dedication of the amazing principals in the Cumberland School Department! During Principal Appreciation Month and throughout the entire year, we thank you for your leadership, commitment, and the countless ways you make a difference in the lives of our students, staff, and school communities. Thank you for all you do!
Transportation OPT-IN Attendance
As you may recall, the Cumberland School Department has adopted an Opt-In for Bus Transportation Model, which is being trialed this year. As part of the Opt-In process, we will take bus attendance a few times a year to confirm ridership. Beginning on Monday, October 26th, we will be taking our first round of attendance on each bus for a two-week period. Each driver and/or monitor will take attendance both in the morning and afternoon. If an eligible, registered student has used bus transportation for any amount of time during this attendance period, the student will remain on the bus roster as an active rider and no action will be required of the student, family, or administration. If a student has been recorded as not using bus service at any time during the two (2) week attendance periods, an email will be sent to the parent/legal guardian to inquire if the student still requires transportation services; a response must be received within three (3) school days of the communication send date. If services are no longer required as communicated by the parent/legal guardian, or if there has been no response to the school request for service clarification within the response window, the student will be removed from the bus roster and the parent/legal guardian or student of majority age must re-register the student in writing through the Transportation Coordinator.
Please note that buses will be delayed daily during this attendance timeframe. We thank you for your patience.
