Dear Students, Staff, and Families:
As we prepare for Winter Recess, I hope the brief pause allows all of our students, staff, and families a break to reset and refocus as Spring is on the horizon.
Middle School Basketball for a Great Cause
On January 27th, McCourt Middle School and North Cumberland Middle School competed in their annual basketball games at the Wellness Center. Thanks to the hard work of the McCourt PTO, Isaac Burger, and the kindness of the Cumberland community, we successfully raised $4,000 for the Peryea family.

Cumberland Preschool Center Lottery
The 2025-2026 Preschool Lottery link is now open for Peer Models. Please feel free to share the information below 🙂
Cumberland Preschool Lottery – 2025-2026
The Cumberland School Department is seeking children, ages 3-5, for the Cumberland Preschool to serve as community partners in our program. Our preschool classes have morning and afternoon sessions following the Cumberland School Department’s calendar. Three-year-olds typically attend the morning session and four-year-olds in the afternoon session. Enrollment is open through a lottery to resident children of Cumberland.
A monthly tuition is required as part of enrollment, and parents must provide transportation. Certified early childhood special education teachers, paraprofessionals, and therapists work with children with and without disabilities through typical preschool activities, following the RI Early Learning Development Standards.
Please click here to join the lottery.

Bus Zone Tracking App
Durham has introduced BusZone, a new tracking app designed to help families monitor their student’s buses. As part of our commitment to leveraging evolving technology in student transportation, BusZone offers enhanced convenience and peace of mind for both parents and the school district.
Available on both Android and Apple devices, the app allows parents to:
-
Set up customized, proximity-based alerts.
-
Receive instant push notifications when the bus enters or exits designated zones or the school.
Durham has finished making the necessary changes/updates to the new bus app, BusZone to make it easier for parents to select their student’s route. The route number is the bus number your student takes to school. Please scroll through the entire list as some bus numbers are out of order. Please note, the access code is on the attached flyers. Your student’s LASID is listed in your ASPEN account. If after you enter your student’s LASID it says “student not found” please email Tracy Walton their LASID, full name, and the school they attend. Durham is collecting a list of students whose IDs are not working to send to the app company. The old App will stay active until Friday, February 14th.
Attached, is a flyer with step-by-step instructions on downloading and setting up BusZone.
If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to reach out to Tracy Walton at: 401-658-1600 x274, tracy.walton@
