Cumberland School Department is seeking individuals to serve as Bus Monitors

 

Part Time Employment Opportunity

School Bus Monitor

Salary: $15.00 per hour

Job Description – Part Time

The school bus monitor is responsible for ensuring the safe loading and unloading of school bus riders, as well as assisting the school bus driver in maintaining acceptable behavior on school buses.  

  • Must be at least 16 years of age
  • National Background Check (BCI) required
  • Perform safety checks each time students enter or leave the bus
  • Must be able to work a split shift – Must be available to work between the hours of 7:15 am to 9:30 am and 2:00 pm to 4:30 pm. Work hours vary depending on the assigned route (average 15 to 19 hours per week)

The Cumberland School Department utilizes the Rhode Island Broadcasters’ Association (RIBA) notification system to report delays, closings and school cancellations.  The notification system is linked to the State’s emergency management system and provides families with notification via all major radio and television stations.  The RIBA provides a service to either e-mail or text message alert notices to subscribers.  If you wish to be notified by text message when there is a closing or delay please sign up here.
