Cumberland High School Closed Today, October 30, 2020 – Distance Learning Day for Students

North Cumberland Middle School Closed Friday, October 23, 2020

Dear Students, Staff, and Parents,

We learned this morning that a North Cumberland Middle School student has tested positive for Covid-19.  As a result, the administration has determined that students and staff should remain home tomorrow, Friday, October 23rd.  Tomorrow will be a distance learning day.  A deep cleaning will take place at NCMS tomorrow while students and staff are out of the building.

We have been in contact with the Rhode Island Department of Health (RIDOH).  They will be commencing with contact tracing.  Anyone who has been in contact with the student will be contacted by RIDOH.  Any decisions regarding the reopening of NCMS will be made at the direction of RIDOH.

Due to confidentiality laws, we cannot release the name or grade of the student who tested positive.  We need to respect the student and family’s privacy.  We can report that the student is asymptomatic.

We will be sure to keep you updated as we learn more from RIDOH.

Sincerely,

Robert A. Mitchell
